Medication Pickup (including pills, EpiPens & inhalers)

As we approach the end of the school year, we just wanted to touch base with you, as parents, to make arrangements for any medications to be picked up (daily prescriptions, as needed medicines, Epi Pens, inhalers). If your child will be attending summer school and you would like to leave their medication here until the end of summer school, that is fine. If your child will not be attending summer school, please stop in before May 20th to pick up any extra medications.

Open Enrollment Announcement

Mississippi County Health Department will be at open enrollment next Monday, August 8 from 1-7 pm to give immunizations. As a reminder, please bring current shot record to open enrollment as well.

Food Allergy Awareness Week

May 9-15 has been declared as Food Allergy Awareness week. As we strive to bring food allergy awareness to everyone on campus. We have decorated the entries to each building TEAL. Food allergies vary from your more common peanuts to gluten to mustard. The Scott County R-IV School District nurses ask that you wear teal and join them for a TEAL WALK on Friday, May 14th at 7:45am on the track as we show our support and spread awareness! Living with a food allergy is a daily struggle filled with worries and fear. 1 in every 13 children have a food allergy, although food allergies can start at any age. Let’s do our part to help them know we support them.

High School Medication Concerns

As a reminder, according to board policy R2870, "The administration of medication, including over-the-counter medications, is a nursing activity, governed by the State of Missouri Nursing Practice Act. It must be performed by the registered professional school nurse." No matter the medication, it has to be administered IN THE NURSE'S OFFICE. You are welcome to bring your own bottle and leave it with Nurse Amber but you are not allowed to carry your own medication with the exception of Asthma Inhalers and EpiPens. Please see Nurse Amber if you have any questions.

Good Practice

Just as a reminder it is always good practice to wash your hands often, before and after you use the restroom or if you have to share supplies. You should also not be sharing drinks or food of any kind. Each student is encouraged to bring their own water bottle. Keep your hands away from your face as much as possible. We can all work together to keep ourselves and each other healthy
