Dear Kelly Hawks Families,

As always, the Scott County R-4 School District holds the health and safety of our students in the highest regards. We mentioned last week that our maintenance and custodial staff have implemented a robust disinfection plan to sanitize all district property. Here are some of the things that we have done and will continue to do:

1. All buses will be cleaned daily immediately following the morning route and afternoon route by each bus driver with a bleach water solution.

2. All sports equipment and weight room materials will be cleaned after every use. For now, spring sports will continue until we hear differently from MSHAA or the state.

3. Buildings will be experiencing additional cleaning every day. Classroom desks and chairs will be cleaned daily. Exterior and interior door handles will be sanitized multiple times daily.

4. In addition to the extra cleaning, field trips will be assessed on a case by case basis. Please continue to monitor our website, app and Facebook pages for any updates.

5. We are working with Aramark and Federal Food Service for a plan to get food to the students in the event that the district is shut down.

Students are more likely to be distracted and anxious about this situation. Please help us to keep them calm and on task while we continue to educate them by talking to your child(ren) about the COVID-19 virus, reassuring them that we are doing all we can to keep them healthy.

We will continue to keep you up-to-date as information arises.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kevin Cogdill

Dear Kelly Hawks Families,

It has been brought to our attention that there is a Facebook post going around about the closure of Scott County schools dismissing at 12:30 pm tomorrow, March 16, 2020. This post was made by the Scott County Sheriff's Office of Scott County TENNESSEE, NOT Scott County Missouri. As per our district calendar, tomorrow is a teacher workshop day. Regular classes are in session again beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

Please know that we are keeping abreast of the situation within our county and are implementing actions to keep our students healthy and safe. Any official announcements of which you need to be aware will come through official communication channels: push notifications through the app; announcements made on our website (Superintendent's Square); official school Facebook pages (district, high school, middle school and elementary); phone calls from the district; emails from the district; and KFVS12 News. If you are unsure, feel free to contact the district office with any questions or concerns.

Dear Kelly Hawks Families,

In the interest of student health and safety, the Missouri Department of Education held a webinar today for all public school superintendents. Here are the main points we learned:

1. As of the time of the webinar, all decisions pertaining to district closures are left up to the local district.

2. All decisions to remain open or to close will be made in regards to state and local health departments’ recommendations.

As always, the Scott County R-4 School District holds the health and safety of our students in the highest regards. At this time, the local health department has had NO reported cases of COVID-19 in our district or county. Therefore, we will continue to hold classes as normal. Our maintenance and custodial staff have implemented a robust disinfection plan to sanitize all district property.

We will continue to keep you up-to-date as information arises.

Sincerely,

Dr. Kevin Cogdill

Superintendent of Schools

Scott County R-4 School District
