Covid Update for Kelly Elementary

As of November 10, 2020,  we wanted to make you aware of another
situation that was recently brought to our attention. Scott County R
IV officials were notified that a staff member at the elementary
school had received a lab-confirmed positive COVID-19 test. The
infected individual was last in attendance on November 3, 2020.
Students and staff members who came into contact with the infected
individual have already been notified.

After the completion of contact tracing, all areas of the building
that the positive case was in during the infectious period have been
thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. According to the Centers for
Disease Control, people with COVID-19 have a wide range of symptoms
similar to the flu or cold including fever, coughing and shortness of
breath. Symptoms can range from mild to severe and may appear 2-14
days after exposure to the virus. The CDC says it is spread via
person-to-person contact via contaminated air droplets. If you are
exhibiting symptoms or believe you may have been exposed, please call
your medical provider.

The safety of our staff and students remains our top priority. As a
school community we will continue to follow recommended guidelines
from county health officials.

On 10/13/2020 the Scott County Board of Education voted to approve a proposal to make Wednesday’s virtual days for all students beginning November 4.  This will include all Wednesdays except December 16, January 6, March 31 and April 7.  All teachers will be on campus on Wednesdays from 7:45-3:20.  Teachers will be available to:

  1. Respond to any parent/student communication

  2. Plan and make videos for Hawks at Home students and update the Google Classroom.

  3. Improve lessons for in-person students.

  4. Update grades and provide specific feedback for all students.

  5. Carry out scheduled appointments to provide specific instruction to students.

  6. Conduct home visits as necessary.

We know that this may cause an inconvenience for families, but we hope that this additional time will help us to strengthen our partnership to improve academic performance.  We appreciate your support during these uncertain times.  You can help your student the most by setting a structured schedule for them to complete their work.  Please continue to remind your students to check the Google classroom and their Gmail.  In addition, we recommend scheduling all doctor appointments on Wednesdays.  This will cut down on the time that an in-person student misses seat time.  If you have any questions, please contact any school office.
