The district has recently learned that a student has tested positive for E.coli, a bacteria that causes gastrointestinal symptoms. While most people with E.coli recover within a week, it can lead to more serious medical issues. Typically, E.coli is spread through contaminated food or water. According to the Scott County Health Department, it is not known where the student contracted the bacteria. If your student begins to exhibit gastrointestinal symptoms, you are encouraged to contact your medical provider and keep them home until they are symptom free for twenty-four hours.

The Scott County R-IV Board of Education has officially adopted the school calendar for next year. To view the calendar, you may select it from either of the dropdown menus "District" or "Quick Links." You may also click here to view the calendar.

In accordance  with recent CDC guidelines, the Scott County R-IV School District is implementing a change in our quarantine procedures. The primary change on campus is that masked close contacts of a covid-posiitve person will NOT be quarantined unless a parent chooses to do so. Keep in mind that students may not be masked during lunch, pe, band, choir, and some other activities. In these cases, the student may be quarantined as they have all year. Please see the poster from the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) and the Missouri Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) titled “Wear a mask. Stay in School”.

It is important to note however, that masked close contacts will still be quarantined from extra-curricular activities. This is based on the guidance from Governor Mike Parsons, DESE, and DHHS. Please see the document titled “Missouri School Reopening & Operating Guidelines FAQ”. Specifically, please see Q21 that says “This guidance does not authorize a close contact to participate in school-associated sports, extracurricular activities, or any other activities outside of the school setting. Other than attending school, these close contacts should continue to quarantine.”

Any student currently under quarantine that may be impacted by this decision will be contacted by one of the school nurses. The next regularly scheduled board meeting is Tuesday February 9. These procedures may be revisited at that time.
